Khadi Indigo Blue and White Check - Colette Vagabond Pants
A crisp yet sporty pair of pants with a fun criss-cross pattern in the front, that can be paired with a short or long top, that can look both casual and corporate. Named the Vagabond Pants, after French writer Colette's 1910 book, these pants are for those who like looking polished and feeling comfortable, as much as they like wandering and exploring.
This 100-count khadi fabric has been woven using yarn-dyed natural indigo in the Purba Bardhaman weaving cluster of West Bengal, India. The cotton is grown locally and the yarn is dyed with natural indigo that is extracted from the Indigofera tinctoria plant [from the bean family]. Extracting natural indigo is a long and lengthy process and the dye is used for various dyeing and printing techniques.
Supporting and preserving this process of extracting natural dye, sourcing locally grown cotton, yarn dyeing and handloom weaving are important in preserving cultural heritage, providing income opportunities and developing eco-friendly, low carbon footprint options for clothing.
