“A Tropical Journey” is a multi-layered design story, inspired by Singapore’s flora and fauna, visitors and residents, architecture and communities. The initial inspiration came from historical accounts of German botanist and illustrator Ernst Haeckel, who travelled through Singapore in the late 19th Century. The design elements of lush botanicals, oversized butterflies, insects, flower buds and leaves are an interpretation of what the landscape on this island may have looked like to travellers a long time ago - wild, untamed, unknown. Using traditional techniques of hand screen printing, this elaborate print has been created frame by frame in Jaipur, India, and printed on the softest of mulmul [100% cotton] fabric.
For easy-breezy tropical living, wear this print as a sarong or a large scarf. . Also great as a vibrant tablecloth for a picnic! Just have fun with it !
