V-Neck Sleeveless Top with Blockprinted Skinny Scarf - Ikat Burgundy
This top and scarf combination is all about appreciating the talent of three heritage master artisans, skilled in their individual craft forms - Ikat, Chanderi and Blockprinting.
Ikat is a dyeing technique used to weave patterns into textiles. It uses a technique called resist dyeing, where threads are tied and dyed before weaving. One of the most noticeable and unique attributes of surrounding an Ikat pattern is the blurriness in the design. It can also be considered to be a global design movement that spans across the centuries and originated in Asia. The word “ikat” has Indonesian and Malay roots, roughly translating to mean “tie and bind”. The handloom Ikat fabrics sourced by Ayesha originate from the weaving cluster of Telangana, India. This design has been woven by multi-generational master weaver, Yadagiri Gajam from Puttapakka, Telangana.
Chanderi , from the town of Chanderi, in central India, is an established handloom center known for its diaphanous and lustrous weaves. The Chanderi fabrics for Ayesha have been developed by artisan weaver, Mohammad Furqan.
The block printed motifs on the Chanderi skinny tie are part of the Zen Garden range, developed by master artisan, Santosh Kumar Dhanopia of Sanganer, Jaipur.
